“Near, Far…

… wherever you are…”

That song will forever change the way I see icebergs.  While sailing along one of  southeast Alaska’s many fjords, we encountered multiple icebergs.  This one caught my eye because of its jagged nature.  Not only that, this piece of ice actually collided with the Carnival Spirit.  It made a dull thud against the hull of the ship and floated away.  I took this photograph before it hit the ship.

The ice apparently has a blue hue because the snow that had fallen over thousands of years had compacted so much that the ice itself absorbs all other frequencies of light other than blue.  Anyway, I do hope you enjoy.
