Flying High

I had to have quick reactions for this photograph.

While waiting in line to board the ship during my week long cruise, I happened to see a bald eagle flying towards where I was.  Luckily, I had brought with me my long lens and so I hurriedly replaced the lenses on my camera and zoomed all the way in.  I knew that I had just a second to nail the focus down and take a shot so I pointed my camera at the bird and fired off a shot.  I knew that I would get basically a silhouette against the overcast sky but I figured it would look amazing either way.  What you see here is basically what my camera took, save for a few sensor spots that I had to clean.  I’m quite happy with this photograph even though it is a touch on the blurry side.  That was mainly because the eagle was flying so fast that I had a hard time panning to keep up.  I have no regrets with how this photograph came out because the eagle just happened to be flying around where I was at the time.
